Hoping to get out....

Dear Hubby and I have been talking about me needing a break. My last overnight time away was a trip to San Antonio with my friend, to attend the Women of Faith Conference. And, that was last October.

We are discussing when and where I should go. I'm planning on one night away. I have family nearby that I could visit. And, I could take a friend with me. But the truth is this: I need some alone time. I am with someone almost every moment of my life. If I am alone, I'm usually in another room of the house. :)

Because we have to schedule to have someone here with Dear Hubby, it's not as easy as making plans and leaving. There are people to consult, favors to ask, arrangements to make, etc. And, thus far, it just hasn't worked out like I hoped.

So instead, and until I can take that little two day respite just for me, I'm planning little outings. Tonight, my daughter in law's sister is having a wedding shower (we are close friends with the entire family). She is getting married this summer, and the shower is just about 20 minutes from here. I'm hoping to attend. There will be people there I haven't seen in quite a while, so that will be nice. Plus, I'll have a bit of a break too, and that will be nice. :)

I found this blog on your quilting blog (giveaway posted on Stray Stitches). I had to pop in because I have Scleroderma and though I don't need a full time caregiver and can even occasionally drive myself somewhere (close by). I also discovered quilting just 3 years ago and found it extremely therapeutic. When I sew my stress melts away and pain is almost none existent. A gift from God to be sure. But, DH and I know there will come a time when he will need respite from my full time care. I was a Hospice volunteer respite caregiver for a long time before health limited me. I just had to tell you how wonderful it is to read that you and your DH can discuss your need for a bit of alone time. So many caregivers are afraid to even suggest to their loved ones that they need some time away. Everyone needs it, even under the best of circumstances, but most especially full time caregivers. I will be keeping you and your hubby in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless, your sister in Christ...

I have been checking your blog during the summer and was concerned that there were no new posts. I hope that everything is OK. I can understand if you're a little burned out on blogging. I got that way this summer too - Blogger's "idiosyncrasies" don't help, either.

My family is planning to pick me up & take me to SC to give us a break from each other. It's much needed for us both. We're gett'n' on each other's nerves.
Bless ya'll.
